Quizmasters: the quizzes you make, your logo, colour scheme and settings, and the scores of a quiz you hosted are kept in your browser's storage on your own device. They stay there until you delete them or clear your browser's data. You can back up or delete any quiz from its page.
Players: your phone keeps your team name, the name you gave (if asked), a random code that lets you rejoin the same team, and the quiz's colours and logo, so it can reconnect if your screen locks. Your answers and name are sent only to the quizmaster's device and, for a shared team, to your teammates' phones. The quizmaster can see who gave each answer.
During a quiz, players' phones connect directly to the quizmaster's phone (a technology called WebRTC). To set up that connection, each phone briefly contacts a connection service, which sees the phone's internet (IP) address and a random ID but not the quiz content. When a direct connection isn't possible, quiz messages are passed through a relay run by Cloudflare. Relayed messages are encrypted and are not stored. To use the relay, your phone gets a temporary login from this website that expires after a few hours.
This website uses Google AdSense to show adverts on some pages, such as our guides and a team's results screen at the end of a quiz. Adverts are never shown while a quiz question is on screen.
Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's previous visits to this website or other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
Before any advertising cookies are used, you will be asked whether you agree. If you don't, Google may still show adverts, but they won't be personalised to you.
You can opt out of personalised advertising at any time in Google's Ads Settings, or opt out of some other companies' use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info. Google explains how it uses information from sites that show its adverts at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
The site also stores your quizzes and settings in your browser (see above). That storage is needed for the site to work and is never used for advertising.
Like every website, our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (such as IP address, date and page requested) for security and to keep the site running.
The site is designed for quiz nights in pubs and bars. We don't knowingly collect information about children.
Because we don't hold personal details, there is usually nothing for us to send or delete — your quiz data is on your own device.
