Pub Quiz Generator

Pub Quiz Generator is a free website for anyone who runs a quiz: pubs and bars, clubs, schools, charities, offices and families. It makes a complete quiz in seconds, prints the sheets, and lets teams answer on their own phones, with nothing to download and no account to create.

Who runs it

The site is made and run by Malcolm Christopher, an independent developer. It isn't owned by a pub chain, a quiz company or a media group. It is a small, independent website, built and looked after by one person. Malcolm also runs Neon Game Cave, a free games website.

What the site does

• Create a quiz: choose the number of rounds, the subjects and the difficulty, and the site picks the questions. You can swap any question, add your own, and print answer sheets and score sheets.
• Host it on phones: teams scan a QR code and answer on their phones, and the scores add up automatically. You can also show the questions on a pub TV.
• Printable quiz: question sheets, answers and a score sheet as PDFs, for a quiz without phones.
• Pub Bingo: a free 90-ball bingo caller with tickets on phones or paper.
• Quiz Challenge: free quiz games to play on your own, including a Daily Challenge.
• Free quiz questions: ready-made rounds with answers to read out or print, plus guides such as how to run a pub quiz.

Where the questions come from

The question bank holds over 25,000 questions in 97 categories, including more than 4,000 picture questions. Every question is written for the site and checked before it goes in: answers are checked against reliable sources, repeats are weeded out, and questions that would quickly go out of date are avoided. Recent sports results are only added once they have been confirmed by two separate sources.

The questions lean towards the UK and Ireland, but most of them work anywhere in the world. Picture questions use photos that are free to reuse, such as public domain and Creative Commons images, and every photographer is credited on the image credits page.

Spotted a mistake? Every question in Quiz Challenge has a "Report a problem" link, or you can email us (below). Corrections are made quickly.

How the site is paid for

Pub Quiz Generator is free to use. Running costs (hosting, the servers that connect the phones, and the time it takes to write and check questions) are covered by adverts from Google and by people who choose to buy me a coffee. Advertising cookies are only used if you agree; see the privacy notice for details.

The question database, the website and its text are © 2026 Malcolm Christopher. You're welcome to use the questions to run your own quiz nights, and to print them for your quiz. Please don't copy the questions in bulk or republish them on another website, in an app or in a book without permission.
